Be Sun-Conscious In Your Jeep
You know what many people like best about their Jeep with a soft top? It's like getting two cars in one. When you need cover and protection from the elements, you got it with the soft top and when you want to enjoy a warm, sunny day in your Jeep - you just take off the soft top and enjoy the ride and let the wind blow through your hair. When you're riding with the cover off your Jeep, be sure and take the same precautions for exposure to the sun as you for a trip to the lake or beach. First of all, use sunscreen. The ultraviolet rays of the sun can do silent damage to your skin and the UV rays still come through to your skin even on a cloudy day. Many sunscreen blocks have up to 98% UV ray protection. If you're going to be riding around for a long day in your Jeep - use the maximum sunscreen and apply often. Next wear light colored clothing as it actually reflects back the heat. You'll stay cooler and enjoy the ride more if you're not overheating. Bring along water if you're not going to be in a place where it is easily accessible. Staying hydrated is a must throughout the year but especially during the warmer months. A towel on the seat is a great idea too! Last but not least, protect your eyes. Sunglasses not only look cool but if you wear a pair with UV ray protection; you'll go a long way to protecting your eyes from cataracts and macular degeneration. Make these tips part of your next outdoor ride in your Jeep and you'll skin and eyes will thank you for it! Labels: accessories, jeep, jeeps, outdoors, trails, travel

Start Planning Roadtrips With the Kids!
Today was Groundhog Day and in true form, the groundhog appeared today and saw his shadow - which portends six more weeks of winter weather. However, it's not too early to start planning road trips and if you have kids, make the ride even more fun by adding some cool accessories to your Jeep Compass. Jeeps are dependable, rugged and will get you from any point A to point B with ease that is unmatched; this is one of the reason Jeep owners are so loyal to the brand. Now Jeep has come out with an entire line of accessories that make the ride sheer luxury. When warm weather arrives, take off for the beach with your family. Another cool idea is to plan a camping trip and you can even get a jeep tent that will hook up to the back of your vehicle and enable your kids to watch a DVD or play a video game after dark. Many parents pack a travel pack for their kids so they don't have to keep stopping for snacks along the way. Pack some sandwiches, low mess fruits such as apples, bananas or pears and veggies such as carrots all make great munching that is also healthy. Pack plenty of water and/or juices for the kids. This will keep their energy up and is a far better idea than trapping yourself in a vehicle with kids that get sugared up candy and cookies and then are bouncing off the walls of the Jeep for most of the road trip and then crashing when you finally arrive. Traveling with kids can be a learning experience for your kids and you can make the getting there part even more enjoyable by planning ahead to keep your kids busy for the ride and that way you won't have to keep answering the ages old question of , "Are we there yet?". 'Tis the Season for Muddy Carpets...
You want your Jeep to stay looking nice and do your best to upkeep the interior as well as the exterior, however there is one thing you can't avoid. Winter slush. When snow meets dirt and it gets on your shoes or boots and then melts in the warmth of your Jeep; you get muddy slush and if you're not careful you'll soon have stained interior carpeting. Most Jeep owners are the kind of people who like to get out and take advantage of everything that Mother Nature has to offer. This will mean heading out for road trips all year long and even braving the elements when the cold and bitter winter weather strikes. While you might have no problem at all when cutting through the snow and ice with your Jeep, you might find it to be a bit difficult trying to keep this mess from coming inside on your feet! When you are looking to protect the carpets on the floor of your Jeep, help is just as easy as laying down a set of slush-style floor mats. These great floor mats are just the thing that you need in order to hold all of the mess in one place without it being able to escape and stain your carpeting. The floor mats are made from durable material with deep grooves that are just right for keeping your carpet clean all year long. You can even order the slush-style floor mats in either dark taupe or dark slate to match your Jeep's interior. Keep the slush out of the carpeting of your Jeep, invest in a set of mats and your interior will stay looking new - despite all the winters you take your Jeep through. Navus also has dead-reckoning capability that will seamlessly route the user if the satellite signal is temporarily lost. For the person that loves to download and listen to books and music while they are on the road, an IPod Integration Kit will make a fabulous addition to their Jeep Grand Cherokee. The IPod Integration Kit is easy to install and will make taking tunes along for the ride easy. Another option for the person that likes to jam while they drive is a Sirius Satellite Radio System. It takes an existing cell phone and once connected to the unit, will allow the user to dial, answer and speak over a crystal clear hands free system. Allowing the driver to keep your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road. And those are just a few of the marvelous interior accessories you can add to a Jeep Cherokee and they make wonderful holiday gifts that will be truly used and appreciated. Plan a Romantic Getaway - Yes YOU!
The holiday season is about to swing into high gear soon and you're not going to feel like you have much time for yourself much less your partner - before that happens - take the time for a romantic getaway. Plan on packing the kids off to your parent's house for the weekend and start putting together a fun getaway for just the two of you. Establish some ground rules for the two of you. No discussions of anything to do with work, no worrying about what the kids are doing, cell phones can go along but they are to be in the "silent" mode until you're back home. That way you can see if anyone needs to reach you from back home and ignore any calls from the office. Next, plan where you're going. It's best if you get out of the house. It may seem like a vacation just having the house to yourselves again with the kids gone, but it's also important to get away yourselves and enjoy a new environment. This time of year, you can usually find good deals on vacation rentals as the snowbird traveling season hasn't heated up in most areas and it's considered a "down" time for most vacation rentals. Get a cozy cabin and you can both curl up by the fire at night. You can make this even better by bringing some of your favorite bottles of wine, some light snacks such as a loaf of crusty bread, crackers and cheese, just put them in a cooler in case there isn't a working fridge when you get to the cabin. Candles can set a wonderful mood for romance or you can choose to use hurricane lanterns and turn them down to a cozy light level. Pack away all that you need in an easy to carry bag and keep your trip as light as possible. Just getting back to the basics can breathe new life into a relationship that was feeling a little stale due to the fact you and your sweetheart simply never get a moment of time for yourselves. Don't talk about anything too deep, forget you have jobs and leave your stress factors at home; just enjoy the time you're spending together and you'll find you will reclaim those feelings of love you thought you lost. This is a great way to reclaim your relationship. It's easy to lose touch but a great weekend together can definitely stoke the fires to burn strong again. Start planning your getaway today! Cold Weather is Coming - Are You Prepared in Case You're Stranded?
It doesn't matter if you have the newest model Wrangler or a Jeep that is years and years old. You can get stranded and while you're waiting for help, during the colder months it's essential that you have items available to keep yourself and your family or traveling companions warm until you can get out of the situation. First of all, put together your own little kit and keep it in your Jeep at all times. Put a few thermal blankets, an LED lantern that runs on batteries not fuel, jumper cables, a basic tool kit, band aids, duct tape, electrical tape, a heavy duty tow strap, road side flairs, a "Help Call Police" sign for your windshield another type of sign that gets a quick response from passing motorists is "Children Inside - Call Police", portable warmers (like hunters and military personnel use) and some people even pick up MRE's (military ready to eat meals) and put them in their Jeep-just in case. The MRE's have a shelf life of years so you can toss a few in your kit and forget about them, additionally many MRE's have a self heating feature so you can warm your insides while you're waiting for help. In the event you are stranded and you are unable to get a signal on your cell phone, you may wind up spending the night in a cold and dark place. Also make sure a crank battery is part of your kit. You can recharge a cellphone, power lights and other items, even if your battery is dead. Just a few turns of the crank and you've generated electricity. If you're traveling with kids, they will feel a lot better if you have a lantern handy and everyone can cuddle up with extra blankets. If there is a chance of traffic on the road you're on - put up the sign in your windshield and you can use a roadside flair to make sure your vehicle is visible to any traffic passing by. You can stay warm by popping open the warmers and given one to each child. The warmers work by creating a chemical reaction that will generate heat for roughly two hours. They are available in most military and outdoor supply stores. When you're stocking your roadside kit - stock enough for an overnight stay for at least 3-4 people so you have enough to keep everyone warm throughout the night if you may be stranded that long. There are a lot of things you can do to prepare for the unexpected. Your Jeep was built to handle the most extreme of conditions, however there may come a situation where are you stranded for a while and it's for those times you need to be prepared so you can get through being stranded in safety and a minimum of stress. A Guide Along the Way That Never Sleeps
One of the best things about owning a Jeep is you're never forced to stay on the paved road and you can exploring and find your own roads to travel. If you love to camp and spend time outdoors you can take advantage of the many 4-wheeling trails made for Jeeps and explore the wilder side of the trail on your own terms. A great way to spend a weekend with your family is to bring along the tailgate attaching tent, your Jeep bicycles and find a remote place in the woods to go camping. Forget the crowded campgrounds and find a place where your family can camp in quiet, peaceful solitude. Many national forests and state managed lands have campsites scattered around many areas of the forest and some are remote enough that unless you have the 4-wheel drive power of a Jeep, you won't be able to make to the campsite. You don't need a lot to go camping. Just your tent, light sources such as a couple of LED lanterns, food that is stored in a couple of coolers, water, personal toiletries and materials for a contained fire to gather around at night. You can spend a fun weekend camping and get away from the hassles of everyday life, the yard work, cell phones, extra-curricular activities and stresses from your work life can all be placed on hold as you enjoy rediscovering spending time with your family. http://store.yahoo.com/yhst-83673118800219/trgunasy.html">A trail guide is a very handy gadget to along as you explore. It can actually show you where you are on the trail and what to expect. Let your Jeep show you what it can really do and the next weekend outing you plan for your family - make it a wilderness adventure that everyone will enjoy and when you get lost, it will be on purpose! The Ultimate Spacesaving Transportation -A Folding Bike!
It happens fast doesn't it? You get a Jeep and you realize you love to take off on road trips, and then you find you are packing way too much stuff that you "need" into your Jeep. If you love to hit the trails and explore in a green fashion in areas you roam, a bicycle is a must. When space has become an option, it's a great idea to invest in a folding bicycle. The Jeep Compass Folding Bicycle is ready to ride in seconds when unfolding and takes up less than eight cubic feet of space when folded and stashed in the cargo compartment of your Jeep. If you wind up flying to your destination instead of driving, this bicycle is just a few inches too large to be used in a standard carry on bag with the updated restrictions most major airlines have, however it can still be checked at luggage with no problem and that way you will have a bicycle to use when you sightsee in another locale. It is even more convenient if you use the optional carry bag for your Jeep bike. This bike has 6 speeds and is made with the same attention to suspension, comfortable ride and durability as other Jeep bicycle designs. Other great features on this bicycle include the magnesium folding frame and alloy linear pull brakes that will always give you confidence in your stopping power. The aluminum 36 spoke wheels are sturdy and can handle street use as well as off-road with ease. The knobby tread MTB tires will assure that you have a good grip on the road or trails you choose to ride. The Shimano shift level is easy to use and won't jam the way you may have encountered on other shifters. This bike also includes mudguards on the front and year along with an alloy kickstand for when you want to take a break from the action on your Jeep bike. You can save space and be green at the same time with a folding Jeep bike, if you need an optional form of transportation or you need a great gift, a folding bike is the ideal choice. Travel Dilemma - Take Your Dog on Vacation or Leave Him Home?
You bought a Jeep because you love to travel. If getting away and even if it is only for a weekend, is at the top of your priority list, your favorite canine companion can suffer from loneliness and even illness. The illness factor can come in when you board your dog because you've stressed your relationship with your next door neighbor because you keep asking him to feed and watch your dog. Dogs in kennels are more prone to depression as well as contracting illnesses from other dogs at the same facility. No matter how well he's treated, your dog is bonded to you and will miss you when you're gone. The solution? Take your dog with you! Your favorite canine buddy will enjoy getting to hit the road with you and two on a trip is even more fun. Jeep Compass has a really handy accessory that allows you to turn the back of your Jeep into a really comfy dog bed . In the cargo area of your Jeep Compass, you can place the dog mat and allow your favorite pooch to travel in style and comfort. The mat is 100% washable and will make the ride very cozy for your dog. Additionally, even the most well behaved of dogs can get skittish when in a new environment, so be sure that you dog is collared and leashed whenever you open your Jeep Compass, this will prevent your dog from getting alarmed and bolting or merely wandering off as even the best trained dogs can lose their bearings and get lost in a strange place. There are also holes drilled in the plastic cargo liner, these are perfect for attaching your dog's leash or harness to and it will allow him to travel safely, if there is a sudden stop he won't be thrown forward into the front seat with you and he will be secured in the back so he won't be a distraction as you are driving. Take your favorite furry friend along for the ride in comfort and safety. Install a Dog Bed Mat in your Jeep Compass and enjoy exploring with your dog. Get Your Little One Outside With a Jeep Trike
Obesity for children is at an epidemic rate and the earlier good activity habits are learned, the less of a chance your child has for becoming a statistic. If you have a kiddo that is just too small for a bicycle but wants to play along with the bigger kids, there is a happy solution that will keep your little one active and playing all year round; the Jeep Jerry Can Trike is a perfect fit for kids that are big enough for a riding toy but too little for a bicycle. For most children, riding a tricycle is easy and because of the stability of the rear tires in conjunction to the large front tire - very little balance is actually required and the child will acquire the necessary balance skills through riding a tricycle to graduate to a bicycle when he or she is older. The only skill your little one needs to have mastered is to ability to sit up in a chair on their own. In addition to being easy to learn to drive, this tricycle also has some fun features that your little one will truly enjoy such as the rear mounted jerry can that opens for storage and will hold all the "treasures" your little one finds outside. The saddle seat on this tricycle is very comfortable and the handles have easy grip so little hands don't slip off. The knobby wheels provide for extra traction if your child encounters loose gravel or sand when they are out riding and the rubberized pedals make it easy to keep their feet on. Also, this tricycle has a replica Jeep® grille and fenders and also has the fun edition of built in electronic sounds and lights. It goes without saying that your child should only ride a tricycle under adult or other responsible person supervision. Your little one may not really be old enough to roll with the bigger kids but they can look and feel the part along with getting great exercise, with their own Jeep Trike. Never Leave Home Without a Tent
It might be true that a Jeep can take you just about anyplace imaginable. However, once you're there, it will make life a whole lot easier if you can at least stay the night. And, having a tent that attaches to the jeep will come in handy if it's monsoon season in the location where you've chose to camp under the stars. The 10' by 10' by ten blue and gray tent is the perfect selection for the camper that wants to set up shop in a hurry. You get some great accessories for this nifty and durable tent. It includes full rain fly, inside pockets, storage bag, and an overhead storage net. And, when you get the urge to zip out on some new adventure, the tent is also designed to stand alone when detached from your jeep. Of course, you may not set out to spend the night under the stars, but it sure won't hurt anything to be fully prepared. It's a great accessory that's easy on the wallet or purse as well. So, if you own a Liberty, Wrangler, Grand Cherokee, Patriot, or Jeep Compass, the great road trip is just around the corner. Sun Safe in Your Jeep
One of the best things about a Jeep with a soft top is that you get two vehicles in one. When you need cover and protection from the elements, you got it with the completing enclosed soft top and when you want to enjoy a warm, sunny day in your Jeep - you just take off the soft top and enjoy the ride. Labels: jeeps, outdoors
