If You Get Stranded in Cold Weather

No one plans on getting stuck in cold weather but it happens and if you have kids along for the ride when you get stuck, you can relax a little knowing that you're prepared for it.

First of all, put together your own little kit and keep it in your Jeep at all times. Put a few thermal blankets, an LED lantern that runs on batteries not fuel, jumper cables, a basic tool kit, band aids, duct tape, electrical tape, a heavy duty tow strap, road side flairs, a "Help Call Police" sign for your windshield, portable warmers (like hunters and military personnel use) and some people even pick up MRE's (military ready to eat meals) and put them in their Jeep-just in case. The MRE's have a long shelf life so you can toss a few in your kit and forget about them.

In the event you are stranded and you are unable to get a signal on your cell phone, you may wind up spending the night in a cold and dark place. If you're traveling with kids, they will feel a lot better if you have a lantern handy and everyone can cuddle up with extra blankets.
