Jeep 4-Wheeling Tips

One of the best things about owning a Jeep is you're not constricted to stay on the paved road and you can explore and find your own roads to travel. If you love to camp and spend time outdoors you can take advantage of the many 4-wheeling trails made for Jeeps and explore the wilder side of the trail.

A great way to spend a weekend with your family is to bring along the tailgate attaching tent, your Jeep bicycles and find a remote place in the woods to go camping. Forget the crowded campgrounds and find a place where your family can camp in quiet, peaceful solitude. Many national forests and state managed lands have campsites scattered around many areas of the forest and some are remote enough that unless you have the 4-wheel drive power of a Jeep, you won't be able to make to the campsite.

You don't need a lot to go camping. Just your tent, light sources such as a couple of LED lanterns, food that is stored in a couple of coolers, water, personal toiletries and materials for a contained fire to gather around at night. You can spend a fun weekend camping with your family and away from the hassles of everyday life, the yard work, cell phones, extra-curricular activities and stresses from your work life can all be placed on hold as you enjoy rediscovering spending time with your family. A trail guide is a very handy gadget to take along as you explore. It can actually show you where you are on the trail and what to expect.

Let your Jeep show you what it can really do and the next weekend outing you plan for your family - make it a wilderness adventure that everyone will enjoy!

Jeep Tent

Even with the cool days of fall upon us you can still enjoy a great weekend of camping. Pack up your gear and grab your favorite camping buddy and take your Jeep to your favorite camping spot!

Jeep knows that the majority of the people that purchase their vehicles enjoy the great outdoors and they have designed a tent that is great for camping and it hooks right into the back of your jeep to give you extra storage space. The tent can also be easily detached from the Jeep if you need to make a run away from the campsite.

If you haven't gone camping with your Jeep, now is the time to try it out. You don't need a lot of items to go camping, just the basics. Besides a Jeep Tent, you will need sleeping bags or even better an air mattress, blankets, pillow, lanterns, flashlight, pack along extra batteries. Trash bags to bring your refuse out with you. Rope will come in very handy for use a clothes line, tie down and so many other uses. Clothes pins come in very handy and always pack along a first aid kit. Bring a cooler to keep your food in and it will not only keep your food from spoiling it will also keep nosy critters from getting in your food supply. Last but not least, bring a camera along to get mementos from your camping excursion.

And that's just the basics, you don't need a lot gear and your Jeep tent will make setting up camp even easier. Just back up your Jeep, attach the ten foot by ten foot tent and get ready for a great weekend of fun in the great outdoors!

Ease of a Folding Bike

If you love to ride your bike but you find that you are packing way too much stuff that you "need" in your Jeep, a folding bike may be a great option for you. The Jeep Compass Folding Bicycle is ready to ride in seconds when unfolding and takes up less than eight cubic feet of space when folded and stashed in the cargo compartment of your Jeep.

While it's only a few inches too large to be used in a standard carry on bag, you can actually check your bike at your airline of choice and it is even more convenient if you use the optional carry bag for your Jeep bike.

This bike has 6 speeds and is made with the same attention to suspension, comfortable ride and durability as other Jeep bicycle designs. Other great features on this bicycle include the magnesium folding frame and alloy linear pull brakes that will always give you confidence in your stopping power. The aluminum 36 spoke wheels are sturdy and can handle street use as well as off-road with ease. The knobby tread MTB tires will assure that you have a good grip on the road or trails you choose to ride.

The Shimano shift level is easy to use and won't jam the way you may have encountered on other shifters. This bike also includes mudguards on the front and year along with an alloy kickstand for when you want to take a break from the action on your Jeep bike.

Putting Together a Winter Emergency Kit

If you haven't already done this, take the time to put together a emergency safety kit for colder months ahead. It is a good idea to have any time of the year but especially in the colder months in case you have a break down and need items to keep warm until help arrives.

Jeep has a great Roadside Safety Kits that includes much needed items such as 6 Gauge jumper cables, large fleece blanket, leather gloves, multifunction flashlight and 2"x 20' recovery tow strap. It is packed in a large multi-pocket bag. However, you can add to this to fit the needs of your individual family. If you have children, add extra blankets to your emergency roadside kit. If you have young children, a diaper bag with jars of baby food and a can of formula isn't a bad idea either.

You can have a very dependable source of light by using an LED bulb lantern that will last up to 10,000 hours. It also features a handy remote control and a carry handle that makes it very portable and there is a dimmer switch to adjust for brightness. It only requires four size D batteries and you will have a very dependable light that is water and impact resistant.

Even if you find you just mainly go around your town and do errands,it can be distressing to get caught out on the road in a snowdrift or caught stranded with a dead battery and when the weather is cold, you will need to stay warm until help arrives. With just these few items, you can be prepared for any emergency or unexpected situation that happens to get in your path on the road.

Two for the Ride

If you're like many families, you have two children very close in age and the prospect of both your partner and yourself being available to push both children in a stroller isn't always a possibility.

Jeep has a great solution with one of their rugged yet comfortable strollers. Jeep has a stroller made for twins or two younger children that require a stroller; that is mounted side by side and will make it easy for one person to push two children comfortably where ever you may roam.

If you enjoy walks in the park, the zoo or the mall with your children - this stroller is ideal. The stroller was made with all the Jeep technology in mind to give your kids a truly comfortable ride. The difference in this stroller and many others is the shock absorbing front wheels that take the bumps and translate them into a smooth and comfortable ride for your child.

This stroller is made for children who can sit up on their own as there are not chest or shoulder straps, however most children find this stroller much more comfortable than a traditional stroller with their chest harness attachments. This Jeep stroller attaches with a wide fabric "T" that clips on each side securing your child yet letting them have complete freedom of upper body movement.

The back of the stroller can be rolled up revealing a mesh backing to keep your kiddos cool when the weather is not. The rolled up backing will form a nice pillowy headrest too. In the cooler months, the backing can be let down and this all weather stroller will keep the wind off your kids and still let them ride in comfort. There are two clip on bags to hold snacks, cups and other necessities and when you're ready to go, this stroller will fold up out of sight and be ready in the back of your car to go again when you are!

Take Fido Along for the Ride!

If you love to travel or take off for extended weekends of outdoor camping fun and just hitting the road and finding out where you end up, your favorite canine companion can suffer.

Boarding dogs can cause stress leading to illness and you can't keep asking your next door neighbor to feed and watch your dog when you're gone without crossing the line to being imposing. The solution? Take your dog with you!

Your favorite canine will enjoy getting to hit the road with you and two on a trip is even more fun. Jeep Compass has a really handy accessory that allows you to turn the back of your Jeep into a really comfy dog bed. In the cargo area of your Jeep Compass, you can place the dog mat and allow your favorite pooch to travel in style.

The mat is 100% washable and will make the ride very comfortable for your dog. Additionally, even the most well behaved of dogs can get skittish when in a new environment, so be sure that you dog is collared and leashed whenever you open your Jeep Compass, this will prevent your dog from getting alarmed and bolting or merely wandering off.

There are also holes drilled in the plastic cargo liner, these are perfect for attaching your dog's leash to and it will allow him to travel safely, if there is a sudden stop he won't be thrown forward into the front seat with you and he will be secured in the back so he won't be a distraction as you are driving.

Let you dog come along for the ride and travel in safety, comfort and style with a dog bed for your Jeep Compass.
