A recent study by an independent survey company showed that not paying attention when driving due to holding onto a cell phone was in the top ten reasons for automobile accidents in 2005, in areas where cell phone usage has been limited to hands free sets only, the incidence of traffic accidents by individuals struggling to drive and hold a cell phone to their ear has decreased dramatically.

Jeep has added a valuable accessory to the Jeep Commander. The UConnect system for cell phones is a voice-activated and completely hands-free. This in-vehicle communications system will fit not only your Jeep Commander but also Jeep Liberty and Jeep Grand Cherokee. It uses a small control pad, microphone and speaker.

It is voice activated so you just need to say, "Call Office" and it will dial your office. The reception is crystal clear and you won't have a problem holding a necessary conversation while you are also able to keep your eyes on the road and your attention on driving.

The UConnect will automatically mute your radio before receiving or sending a call so you never have to take your hands off the steering wheel. If you have a family where several members have cell phones, the U-Connect can have up to five phones linked to the system so no matter who is driving your Jeep, they can remain safe yet connected on the road.
