Sun Safe in Your Jeep
One of the best things about a Jeep with
a soft top is that you get two vehicles in one. When you need cover and protection from the elements, you got it with the completing enclosed soft top and when you want to enjoy a warm, sunny day in your Jeep - you just take off the soft top and enjoy the ride.
When you're riding with the cover off your Jeep, be sure and take the same precautions for exposure to the sun as you for a trip to the lake or beach. First of all, use sunscreen. The ultraviolet rays of the sun can do silent damage to your skin and the UV rays still come through to your skin even on a cloudy day. Many sunscreen blocks have up to 98% UV ray protection. If you're going to be riding around for a long day in your Jeep - use the maximum sunscreen and apply often.
Next wear light colored clothing as it actually reflects back the heat. You'll stay cooler and enjoy the ride more if you're not overheating. Bring along water if you're not going to be in a place where it is easily accessible. Staying hydrated is a must throughout the year but especially during the warmer months.
Last but not least, protect your eyes. Sunglasses not only look cool but if you wear a pair with UV ray protection; you'll go a long way to protecting your eyes from cataracts and macular degeneration.
Make these tips part of your next outdoor ride in your Jeep and you'll skin and eyes will thank you for it!
