Traveling with Dogs for the Holidays

If you don't like the idea of leaving your pet behind for the holidays and you don't want the expense of leaving your pet in a kennel or boarding facility; consider taking your pet along for the ride.

First of all, clear bringing your pet along with your hosts. They may have dogs that aren't friendly to new furry faces or they simply may not want a dog in their home no matter how well behaved. And speaking of well behaved, if your dog doesn't have the basic manners of being housebroken and knowing how to behave when out as in not jumping on people and especially small children; you might be better suited leaving him at home. However, if your dog is well socialized and behaved, bring him along if you get the green light from your hosts.

It's is important that your dog be safe when the vehicle is in motion. Your dog can be a dangerous distraction if he is allowed to move freely about the interior of the car not to mention in the unfortunate incident of an impact, your dog will be hurtled within the car and quick possibly by seriously injured. There are numerous car seats for pets and if you have a Jeep Compass, you can get a cargo area dog bed that comes with a removable and washable cover and you can clip your dog's leash to the overhead interior clips and that will allow him movement to stand up and stretch his legs during the ride but not run around.

You can travel in safety and comfort in your Jeep and so can your dog. If you want to spend your holiday season with all family members, including the furry ones; bring your dog along for the ride - you'll be glad you did.
